November 2023 Meeting - Tax Update

Please register today for the free November 21, 2023 chapter luncheon meeting featuring Scott Ritsema, CPA, an independent tax consultant. This year's tax update will focus on legislation going into effect in 2023 and 2024, including certain provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the new Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting requirements, current issues and updates related to the Employee Retention Credit, certain provisions of the SECURE 2.0 Act, and other miscellaneous federal, state, and local tax changes. This presentation will qualify for 1 hour of CPE.

The meeting will be held at Bridgewater Place (333 Bridge Avenue NW, Grand Rapids). Doors will open at 11:30 AM and lunch will begin about noon, followed by the featured presentation. Please park on Level C and enter through the sliding doors.

About the Speaker

Scott K. Ritsema, CPA
Independent Tax Consultant

Scott has over 43 years of public accounting experience from Big 4 to local firms, serving clients’ tax compliance needs and delivering innovative tax ideas.  Recently retired from Monroe, Sweeris & Tromp, PLC as a Senior Tax Manager, he retains a small private consulting practice, assisting firms with tax review and a select individual client base.  He continues to monitor tax legislation and rule changes at federal, state and local levels to keep up to date with current tax information.

Scott has focused on corporate and non-corporate client taxation with an emphasis on pass-through entities, multi-state taxation and the interaction between federal and state tax outcomes.  Many of Scott’s clients fell in the manufacturing sector across a broad spectrum of industries. Through his relationships with these clients, Scott has assisted in strategic tax planning and compliance services for business formation, mergers and acquisitions, disposal of business units, inventory issues, and business structure changes to maximize tax savings.  Scott also has substantial experience working with owner-operated companies which involve unique aspects of balancing company, owner, and family tax needs, including trust and foundation administration, estate planning and annual tax planning.  As a past seminar presenter, Scott strives to make tax issues, opportunities, and options understandable for clients so that they can make the best decisions to accomplish their goals.
